You are now transporting back into time…
calculating…
rerouting…
arriving…
You have landed in a small travel trailer on the outskirts of Canyon, Texas, in the year 2020. Here, we find a 22-year-old Ady making Instagram stories about the moth takeover of that spring, Frat Daddy Ady (you had to be there), and follow her as she writes her personal manifesto.
This would be one of the many times when Ady began to write about the languages of living.
Leading up to this moment in time and space, she had perfected languages of southern hospitality, Christian evangelicalism and charismatics, youngest sibling syndrome, and an honest-to-God pure nature.
But what began to intertwine with her literal learning of the Spanish language in the year 2018 was another set of languages altogether. Within the folds of conjunctions and cultural slang words, unraveled the languages of doubt or, more accurately, curiosity. Not far behind were the native tounges of rebellion, bold living, and deconstruction.
With each passing month, new words, terms, beliefs, and perspectives swarmed her dreams and her notes app. She expanded her ability to connect through these newfound expressions, and with it, her old languages began to fall further and further to the back of her mind as she grew and changed in ways she could never have comprehended.
Moving through time came the language of new love, marriage, entrepreneurship, and overwhelming and crippling self-doubt - each bringing a complex choir of new ways to speak and hear the world.
Then, one day, there fell a silence. She collapsed to the ground as the weight of a thousand languages clung to her. Too much to bear.
Here she stayed. Every few months, she would attempt to break free, only to fall once more as old and new knowledge battled for the place of right knowledge.
It wasn’t until she began to speak to each language in its own voice that the words melted into one, integrated into a network of new ideas and a multifaceted existence.
To the faithful, she prayed.
To the rebel, she joined in.
To the married, she set free.
To the curiosity, she questioned.
To each voice, she gave space as the world fell down around her, and what remained in its place was peace and the knowing that there were thousands of languages still to learn.
The undoing of kingdoms built at the hand of new lessons to come.
Sitting here now, in 2025, multilingual in life, I begin to implore the languages of being a healer, a grad student, someone who surrenders daily and embraces the magic of my difference.
What languages do you know? What languages do you hope to learn? Embrace your multilingual life and embrace all that they each have to share with you.
New name, who this?
About Journey Home Healing
As many of you have journeyed with me through life’s ever-changing seasons, you’ve witnessed the many evolutions of this work. We have sold t-shirts, offered virtual assistance, published books, and hosted workshops—and with each step, we’ve drawn closer to what this was always meant to become.
Journey Home Healing is the new hearth for this work. A space where healing, coaching, encouragement, writing, and community converge—a place with a name that holds the essence of the work itself.
But this is not about reaching a final destination. Here, we honor the journey. We release the weight of tomorrow and embrace the fullness of today. With each step, each breath, and each intentional moment, we move just 1-5% closer to the life we are creating as we find our way back to who we truly are, letting all else melt away.
Best Reads Recently
I won’t shut up about these first two books until some of you decide to start reading them. I mean it.
I recently picked up physical copies of Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender, and I Thought It Was Just Me (But It Wasn’t)—even though I’ve listened to both multiple times on Libro.fm (support your local bookstore!). There’s just something about putting pen to paper, making notes, and highlighting the passages that changed my life that make the experience even more powerful.
BUTTT, if you really want to know the new reads from the past few weeks, here is the lineup:
Dopamine Nation by Anna Lembke, MD
Such an interesting book with insanely great insight into the world of addiction in both extreme and everyday cases (social media and smut anyone?) I also found the conversation on the relationship between pain and pleasure to be FASCINATING! Haven’t really shut up about it since…
The Way of Integrity by Martha Beck
This is an amazing starting point for anyone wanting to start their journey towards their most authentic self! I first heard Martha Beck speak on the Expanded Podcast and loved that episode so much that I wanted to read her work. This book takes you through The Divine Comedy (Dante’s Inferno) and how it relates to living a life of honesty, integrity, and freedom from lying (yes, even the tiny tiny small lies.)
Best Listens
Recently, with school and so much time creating, I have filled much of my time with binaural beats and EDM for focus, BUT a few new tunes have escaped their confinement into the world.
