There is something to it
Leaving religion but finding Christ
There is definitely something to it.
Something to the drinking less, praying more
Watching what you consume and donating the 10%
There is something in the beauty of community
In the falling to your knees in humility as the world’s children starve and your brothers and sisters hide in fear of what is to come
There is something to walking gently and singing loudly
while lending a helping hand and committing to compassion
Where religion has alluded me, Christ has found me.
Not in pews. Not in ways I would have ever thought pure.
Christ has found me in the rivers, in the messy friendships, in the bottom of the bottle.
I have walked with Christ in the party goer, the sexual partner, and the communities condemned by the “holiest of holy”
Called to be little Christ in the mysticism and the unknown.
So yes, I would say there is something to it, but never while it adorns itself in shame.
